Arrest Warrant Issued for Venus Man in Connection with Burglary Case

VENANGO CO., Pa. (EYT) — An Oil City woman accused of stealing items from a High Street residence in October is due in court on Wednesday.

Court documents indicate 23-year-old Keela Marie Baker, of Oil City, is scheduled to stand for a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 14, on the following charges:

  • Conspiracy — Burglary — Overnight Accommodations; Person Present, Felony 1
  • Conspiracy — Criminal Trespass-Enter Structure, Felony 3
  • Conspiracy — Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Misdemeanor 1
  • Conspiracy — Receiving Stolen Property, Misdemeanor 1

Details of the Case:

According to a criminal complaint, on Wednesday, October 31, Patrolman Rosenberger, of the Oil City Police Department, spoke to a known individual who reported a theft that had occurred at a residence on High Street around 4:00 p.m. on October 19. The individual gave Patrolman Rosenberger a DVD that contained video evidence of the theft.

In the video footage, Patrolman Rosenberger observed Keela Baker and Shayne Edward O’Day, of Venus, removing items including, but not limited to, a sound bar and Sony subwoofer from the porch area of the residence and placing them inside a white-colored truck. Baker and the known man then got into the vehicle and left the residence, according to the complaint.

The complaint notes that on Saturday, October 20, Baker and O’Day returned to the victim’s residence after Oday had spoken to the victim about repairing the video surveillance. Once inside the residence, O’Day distracted the victim while Baker was loading items into a tote bag. While the victim was downstairs, Oday attempted to destroy the data contained on the hard drive of the video system to destroy the video evidence of the theft from the previous day.

Based on the investigation, Baker was arraigned on Monday, November 5, in Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish’s office.

Unable to post $15,000.00 monetary bail, she was lodged in the Venango County Jail.

According to court documents, her bail type was changed to unsecured on Thursday, November 8, per the judge “for (the) defendant to go to a facility.”
