Truck Hits Icy Patch, Flips on Route 899

BARNETT TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Icy road conditions caused a rollover crash on Route 899 in Barnett Township on Tuesday morning.

According to Marienville-based State Police, around 6:36 a.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 58-year-old John R. Harrell, of Petersburg, Va., was operating a 2013 Ford F150, traveling south on State Route 899 just north of Greenwood Road in Barnett Township, Forest County.

Police say Harrell’s vehicle hit a patch of ice which caused Harrell to lose control and impact with the guide rail on the west side of the roadway. The vehicle struck the guide rail then traveled southeast into the northbound lane and exited the roadway on the eastern side before impacting an embankment, causing the vehicle to overturn.

The vehicle came to a final rest on its roof, halfway on the road, facing northwest.

Harrell was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

The vehicle sustained disabling damage.

Harrell was charged with a traffic violation.

Marienville Volunteer Fire Company, Clarion Hospital Ambulance, and Frank’s Auto and Sons Towing assisted at the scene.
