CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — A Clarion man accused of threatening to put a woman “six feet under” waived his preliminary hearing on Tuesday.

Court documents indicate the following charges against 60-year-old Steven Lee Hollingsworth, of Clarion, were waived for court on Tuesday, November 13:

• Terroristic Threats With Intent To Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 3 (three counts)
• Harassment — Communicate Lewd, Threatening, Etc. Language, Misdemeanor 3 (three counts)

The charges have been transferred to the Clarion County Court of Common Pleas.

Hollingsworth remains free on $5,000.00 unsecured bail.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, around 11:08 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, Officer Maxwell, of the Clarion Borough Police Department, was dispatched to a residence on South Street for a report of a terroristic threat.

Officer Maxwell arrived at the scene and spoke with a known victim about the threats.

The victim reported that Steven Hollingsworth contacted her via phone and threatened her. She said it all began over Hollingsworth’s “obsession” with a known female that was at her residence. The victim stated the female had been staying with Hollingsworth some, as she had just moved here from another state, and the issue began when Hollingsworth allegedly became extremely possessive of the female, according to the complaint.

The known female was present and told Officer Maxwell that she was afraid of Hollingsworth and that she would not go back and stay with him. She also showed Officer Maxwell a text from Hollingsworth that was sent on August 1.

The complaint notes the text was very cryptic and hard to read but said something about “six feet under” and “calling the cops.”

The victim also played two recorded voicemails that Hollingsworth had allegedly left on her phone.

According to the complaint, the first message, recorded at 10:57 p.m. on September 12, was very brief, but included direct threats to the victim, stating, “Go ahead and call the cops (expletive)…I’m a multi-millionaire, and I’ll have you put six feet under, and I won’t get caught.”

The second message, recorded at 11:06 p.m. on September 12, contained additional threats, stating, “You’re never going to see your kids again…I’m gonna have you put six under,” the complaint states.

The complaint also notes that Hollingsworth started both messages by identifying himself by name.

The victim stated that she was afraid, and she knew that Hollingsworth had a weapon.

Officer Maxwell advised the victim and the known female that he would contact Hollingsworth and speak to him. He also told them to call 9-1-1 if Hollingsworth contacted either of them again.

Officer Maxwell then returned to the station and contacted Hollingsworth by phone. Hollingsworth stated that the victim was trying to keep him from the known female. He said was married to the known female; however, after being specifically asked, he related that he was not legally married to her, according to the complaint.

When Officer Maxwell asked Hollingsworth about the threats, Hollingsworth said that it was not a threat but that he “made a promise,” the complaint indicates.

Officer Maxwell then advised Hollingsworth that both the victim and the known female were afraid of him and told him not to contact either of them in any way. Officer Maxwell reiterated this point several times, and Hollingsworth stated that he understood, the complaint indicates.

Around 8:20 p.m. on Monday, September 24, Officer Maxwell spoke with the victim in person to get digital copies of the voicemail messages Hollingsworth had left. The victim then stated there was an additional voicemail Hollingsworth left around 11:21 p.m. on September 12.

According to the complaint, the message stated, “God forgives me if I put somebody under…I’m gonna see heaven, you’re going to hell…I’ll have you put six under. I still keep in contact all my penitentiary buddies. They’d be glad to will get rid of you for me…”

Charges were filed against Hollingsworth on Thursday, October 4.
