PAINT TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A Clarion County Jail inmate is facing a misdemeanor charge for possessing a razor blade in her cell.

According to court documents, on November 8, the following charge was filed against Michelle Renee Dew in Magisterial District Judge Timothy P. Schill’s office:

– Inmate Procure Etc Self W Weapon, Misdemeanor 1

Bail was set at $50,000.00 monetary.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20, in Judge Schill’s office.

According to a criminal complaint, on November 7, Deputy Warden Sparkle, of the Clarion County Jail, contacted Clarion County Detective William H. Peck IV and advised him that inmate Michelle R. Dew was in possession of a razor blade in her cell and used the blade to cut her left hand.

Through the investigation, it was learned that a correction officer took disposable razors into the cell block for inmates to shave. Each inmate was assigned a razor.

Inmate Dew was issued a razor, and she took it into her cell. When the razor was later collected, it was damaged and broken. Approximately 1/3 of the razor blade was missing. She told the corrections officer that she tried to break it, and it must be on the floor of her cell, but it was not found. She was removed from the cell and searched; however, the razor blade was not located.

Around 6:45 p.m. on November 6, jail staff found Dew in possession of the razor blade; she had cut her left hand with it, according to the complaint.

On November 7, Detective Peck seized the broken disposable razor and the piece of razor blade.
