Court Date Set for Clarion Man Accused of Punching Victim Multiple Times, Breaking His Nose

BEAVER TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A Clarion man will face a preliminary hearing on Tuesday stemming from an incident in Beaver Township in which it is alleged that he repeatedly punched a victim.

A preliminary hearing for 35-year-old Michael Lee Rodriguez Caves, of Clarion, is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 27, with Magisterial District Judge Amy Long Turk presiding.

He faces the following charges:

  • Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
  • Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

A certified summons for Rodriguez Caves was issued on October 22.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, on August 31, Troopers Wilson and Knight, of the Clarion-based State Police, were dispatched to a report of a possible assault at a residence on State Route 338 in Beaver Township, Clarion County.

Upon arrival at the scene, Trooper Wilson interviewed a known man who stated that he went to his ex-girlfriend’s residence earlier and knocked on the door wanting to speak to her. The man said that he then returned to his own residence and was sitting on the porch when a vehicle pulled up. A known woman and a black male were in the vehicle, and the male got out and told him to leave the known woman alone and not to contact her. The victim reported that the man, later identified as Michael Rodriguez Caves, then punched him in the face two or three times, according to the complaint.

The complaint notes that the victim had a cut above his right eye and later found out that his nose was broken.

According to the complaint, Rodriguez Caves was interviewed on September 4. He reported that he went to the victim’s residence with the known woman to tell the victim to leave the known woman alone. He went on to state that when he got out of the vehicle and began speaking to the victim, the victim punched him in the face.

Caves Rodriguez allegedly said that he then punched the victim in the face four or five times before getting back in the vehicle and leaving the area, the complaint states.

Charges were filed against Rodriguez Caves on Thursday, October 18, in Judge Turk’s office.
