North Clarion Grad Obenrader Named PSAC West Freshman of the Week
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Gannon Lady Knights basketball team continues its streak of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Freshman of the Week awards to start the 2018-19 season, as Tori Obenrader (Fryburg, Pa./North Clarion) gained the weekly honor for the second time this year, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Along with standout classmate Boston McKinney (Bolivar, Ohio/Tuscarawas Valley), Obenrader has now earned two weekly awards from the league honoring PSAC West freshmen women’s basketball players. Obenrader was strong once again for Gannon (5-4, 1-1 PSAC) off the bench, combining for 19 points, 22 rebounds, four assists and four steals in three games this past week.
Obenrader opened the week with a double-double, the second of her career, behind 11 points and 10 rebounds against Daemen College. She followed it up with a four rebound performance in 14 minutes against Bloomsburg (12/1/18) and capped the busy weekend with seven points and eight rebounds in a 77-62 road win over Mansfield (12/2/18).
Currently the team’s leader in rebounding (59 total; 6.6 RPG), Obenrader is shooting 43.5% from the floor this year while converting nearly 75% of her foul shots. She has logged over 20 minutes off the bench in three of the past four contests and averages 7.6 points/game for the Lady Knights.
Gannon, which is in the midst of its longest layoff between games since the season began, returns home for action against surging Lock Haven (6-1, 2-0 PSAC) on Saturday, December 8 at 1:00 p.m. from the Hammermill Center in Erie.
