5c15320c6a93aDorothy I. Sharrar, 89, of Fertigs, Pinegrove Township, died early Saturday morning, December 15, 2018 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.

She was born in Venus on January 23, 1929 to the late Austin and Ina (Fox) Faller.

She was a 1947 graduate of Shippenville High School.

Mrs. Sharrar was a member of Fertigs United Methodist Church.

Dorothy enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting, and jigsaw puzzles.

She was a dedicated homemaker to her family.

Dorothy was married in Venus on October 3, 1947 to James A. “Red” Sharrar, and he preceded her in death on October 3, 2010.

Surviving are two children: Virginia Myers and her husband Barry of Fertigs, and Samuel Sharrar and his wife Darlene, also of Fertigs; three grandchildren: Roberta McCalmont and her husband Frank of Oil City, James J. Sharrar and his wife Leann of Fertigs, and Kimberly Delawder and her husband William of Seneca; seven great-grandchildren: Misty Braun and her husband Michael of Fertigs, Amanda McCalmont of Jamestown, New York, Jessica Smith and her husband Aaron of Franklin, Brian Bruner, Emily Bruner, both of Corry, and Annabella Sharrar and James Martin Sharrar, both of Fertigs; and four great-great-grandchildren: David and Joey Smith, and Leni and Lincoln Braun.

Dorothy is also survived by five sisters, Mildred Sharrar of Oil City, Helen King and her husband Bob of Oil City, Beatrice Steer of Venus, Ann Irwin of Oil City, and Mary Amsler and her husband Gene of Venus; a brother, Gerald Faller of Franklin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Martin Leroy Sharrar; a grandson-in-law, David McCalmont; two sisters, Geraldine Faller and Lavina Mohney; and two brothers, John and James Faller.

Friends and family will be received Wednesday (Dec. 19th) from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township. A memorial service to celebrate Dorothy’s life will follow in the funeral home Wednesday at 1 p.m., with Rev. Dan Grimes, pastor of Fertigs United Methodist Church, officiating. Private interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
