Lester Eugene Kibbe

5c16bd7eb9488Lester Eugene Kibbe, age 90, of Tionesta, PA, died on Saturday, December 15, 2018, at his home in President Twp., Venango County, PA on Kibbe’s Island near Tionesta, PA.

He was born October 12, 1928 in Kinzua, PA (Warren Co), son of the late Francis and Mary (Corliss) Kibbe.

On January 30, 1965 in Florida he married Doris C. (Fregia) Kibbe, who survives.

Started by his grandparents at the location of their farm, he and his wife owned and operated Kibbe Island Campground.

Lester proudly served his county during WW II in the US Navy and is a Plank Owner of the USS Valley Forge.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #7 in Clearwater, Florida.

In addition to his wife Doris, surviving are a son, Alvin R. Kibbe and his wife Nancy of Baytown, Texas.

A daughter, Gloria Kibbe Sams and her husband Walter of Athens, Georgia.

Two step-sons, James L. Whitmire and his wife Sandra of Tionesta; Larry L. Whitmire and his wife Valentina of Clearwater, Florida.

A step-daughter, Peggy D. Lewis of Lafayette, Louisiana.

Nine grandchildren survive: Christopher M. Northrop and his wife Angie of Senoia, Georgia; Jennifer Sams Andreas and her husband Mitchell of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Jessica A. Sams of Sherman Oaks, California; Jefferson Skyler Kibbe of Baytown, Texas; Jamy C. Whitmire of Clearwater, Florida; Kimberly Lewis of Lafayette, Louisiana; Ronda Lynn Duncan-Yeschke of Oil City, PA; Kacie Miller and her husband Josh of Mercer, PA; Kate Whitmire and her significant other Ben of Tionesta.

There are several great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are a brother, Donald Kibbe of Warren, PA.

Two sisters, Geraldine Taylor and her husband Donald of Dempsytown, PA; Barbara Rennekamp of Florida.

Several nieces and nephews.

Caregivers to Lester and Doris, April Hoover and Joe Yeschke.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Marion Kibbe; a sister, Carol Kibbe; a granddaughter, Heidi Whitmire; and two grandsons, Ronald W. “Beau” Lewis and LaVell Whitmire.

Friends will be received on Monday from 5-7 PM at the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 2 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Kathy Dom of the Tionesta United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial will be private.
