Mabel M. (Hines) Huff

Mabel Huff, 82, of Cooperstown, passed away on December 23, 2018, at Oil City Healthcare Rehabilitation Center surrounded by family and friends.

She was born on July 17, 1936, in Jackson Township, Venango County the daughter of Roy Hines and Carrie Rockafellow Hines. Mabel went to Cooperstown High School and on June 1, 1954, she married Lloyd D. Huff. He preceded her in death on September 28, 2018.

Mabel retired from the former Venango Manor where she worked in the laundry department. She also was previously employed at the Reno Card Plant. She loved working in her garden and flower beds. Mabel and her husband enjoyed traveling, spending time with their grandchildren, and attending tractor shows together. She was a volunteer at the Lucky 13 Club in Hannaville and also was a volunteer at the local shelter for battered and abused women. Mabel crocheted blankets to welcome every baby of Venango County.

She is survived by her children: Lloyd E. Huff (Joyce) of Dexter, Michigan, Carolyn F. Bigley (James) of Franklin, Ronda K. Miller (John) of Cooperstown, and James R. Huff (Lita) of Cooperstown, a brother: Paul Hines (Gerry) of Cooperstown and was blessed with five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild. Mabel is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

Mabel was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, as well as, three sisters: Viola Bruner, Gertrude Hays, and Twila Horton, two brothers: David and Jake (Howard) Hines and one great-grandson.

Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, December 27, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dickson Family Funeral Home, Inc., 123 South Franklin Street, Cochranton, PA. Funeral Services will be Friday, December 28, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. David Brumagin presiding. Interment will be in Peters Cemetery.
