Mary K. Hays Pardee, age 75, of Luther Place, Oil City, passed away at 12:50 am on January 1, 2019, at The Caring Place in Franklin.

The youngest of nine children, she was born May 3, 1943, at the family home in Rocky Grove to John W. Hays and Grace A. (Crum) Hays.

Throughout her life, she worked at several jobs including restaurants, hospital kitchens, the PA Dept. of Health, until finally retiring from Polk Center.

Mary was a member of the Rouseville Volunteer Fire Department, and often could be found directing traffic. She was an avid bingo player, and always looked forward to the Rouseville Lent Fish Fry Dinners. Mary was a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 46 in Oil City, where she served as a past president.

On January 1, 1966, Mary married Alvie D. Pardee in Cranberry Township. He preceded her in death in 1980.

Mary raised their three children who survive, Alvie D. Pardee Jr. of Boca Rotan, FL, Janis M. Cochran (James) of Oil City, and John W. Pardee (Jennifer) of Oil City.

Along with her children, she is survived by her three grandchildren, Tyler Cochran, Lacie Cochran, and Johnathan Pardee, all of Oil City; a sister, Tethel Humphrey of Greenville, PA; a brother-in-law, Darrell Pardee of Athens, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by an infant daughter Eunice Elaine Pardee, a grandson Nickolas Pardee, a brother Walter L. Hays, sisters Florence Shaw, Wanda Hays, Enid Bell, Ethel Thompkins, Clara Hays, and Mabel Leyda, in-laws Alvie Pardee and Pauline Pardee, and brother-in-laws William Pardee and David Pardee.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home tomorrow, January 3, 2019, from 2 to 4 pm, and 7 to 9 pm, with funeral services following the next day, January 4th, at the funeral home at 10 am.

Interment will be in Lamey Cemetery.
