5c2e75a7e570fGladys L. Berg, 94, formerly of Barkeyville, passed away peacefully, January 2, 2019 in Orchard Manor, Grove City, PA.

Gladys was born July 15, 1924, the daughter of Rufus and Ora Lilly Grason of Sewickly.

Gladys graduated from Sewickley High School in 1942. Shortly after graduation, she married Harold L. Berg on February 14, 1944.

Together the couple raised five children on their farm.

During WWII, while her husband was serving in the U.S. Army, Gladys was employed in the office of Sterling Varnish in Haysville, PA.

Gladys was a member of the Barkeyville United Methodist Church and a former member of the Church of God.

Gladys served as a Sunday School teacher.

She was active in the local 4-H program as a leader for seven years. Gladys had a passion for gardening at her own home.

She also enjoyed many hours planning and caring for the Barkeyville Memorial Garden, being a certified Master Gardener in Venango County.

Gladys served on the Barkeyville Borough Council.

She participated in the Venango County Economic Development and Planning Commissions, Northwest PA Regional Hospital Oversight Committee and was a member of the Republican Women Party Committee.

Loved ones left to cherish her memory are her children: Harold A. Berg of Hummelstown, PA; Gerald A. Berg and his wife, Colleen, of Slippery Rock, PA; Daniel O. Berg and his wife, Jeanette, of Broken Arrow, OK; Gloria C. Emick and her husband, Mark, of New Bloomfield, PA; Pamela B. Taylor and her husband, Scott, of Corinth, TX; and her eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, who passed away February 13, 2010, four sisters and one brother.

Family will receive friends at the Jamison-McKinley Funeral Home, 117 North Main Street, Harrisville, PA on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 5-8.

Funeral services will take place at the Barkeyville United Methodist Church, 5420 Pittsburgh Road, Harrisville PA on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11:00 am with Rev Kenneth Hughes officiating.

Burial will take place at Old Log Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial donations sent the Barkeyville United Methodist Church or to the Venango County Humane Society, 286 S. Main Street, Seneca PA 16346
