Joseph Rene Turiak

Joseph Rene Turiak, of Monroe Township, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at his home on January 7, 2019. He was 72 years of age.

Joe was born on December 31, 1946 in New Kensington, the son of the late Joseph, Jr., and Eileen E. (Doumont) Turiak.

After he graduated from high school, he served his country as a member of the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged.

He also attended Clarion University of PA.

In 2005, he married the former Patricia L. (Harmon) Crosby, who survives.

In addition, he is survived by his siblings: a sister, Eileen M. Turiak, of Allison Park; and three brothers, Thomas Turiak, of Lower Burrell, Jeffrey (Wanda) Turiak of Ohio, and Jerrold (Kimberley) Turiak, also of Allison Park. He is also survived by a niece Rachel and a nephew Adam, along with 2 step-daughters, Donna and Gloria, and twin grand-nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, and a niece, Katie.

Joe was most at home on his property overlooking Route 68 in Monroe Township.

He loved taking care of the animals there, both domestic and not-so-domestic — cats, deer, and the occasional bear — and hoped one day to build a homestead where his family could gather.

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory in Clarion.

As per Joe’s expressed wishes, there will be no visitation or formal services.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date to be determined.
