Snow Covered Roads Cause Rash of Rollover Crashes

CLARION CO., Pa. (EYT) — With the snow flying again in Clarion County, and roads getting slick, rubber side up, shiny side down was the theme for Wednesday afternoon.

According to a representative of Clarion County 9-1-1, the first call came in around 11:33 a.m. for a one-vehicle rollover crash near mile marker 48 on Interstate 80 westbound in Richland Township.

Emlenton Fire Department, Emlenton Area Ambulance Services, and Clarion-based State Police were dispatched to the scene.

Less than a half-hour after the first accident was reported, a second call was received around 11:57 a.m. for a one-vehicle rollover in the area of Meadow Lane, just south of Millerstown Road, in Elk Township.

Shippenville Elk Township Volunteer Fire Department, Shippenville-Elk Volunteer Ambulance, and Clarion-based State Police were dispatched to the scene.

Another half-hour after the second accident was reported, a third call came in at 12:28 p.m. for a tractor-trailer rollover near 1312 Route 58 in Richland Township.

St. Petersburg Volunteer Fire Company, Emlenton Fire Department, Knox Area Ambulance Service, and Clarion-based State Police were dispatched to the scene.

According to a representative of Clarion County 9-1-1, one patient was transported from the Richland Township scene by Knox Ambulance.

State Route 58 was subsequently closed near Foxburg for several hours for the removal of the truck.

A fourth accident call was received around 1:02 p.m. for a vehicle down over an embankment near 5148 Curlsville Road in Porter Township.

Rimersburg Hose Company, Sligo Volunteer Fire Department, Clarion Hospital Ambulance, and Clarion-based State Police were dispatched to the scene.

Finally, at 2:20 p.m., Clarion County 9-1-1 received a call for a one-vehicle rollover crash just south of East End Road on Paint Boulevard in Paint Township.

Shippenville Elk Township Volunteer Fire Department, Shippenville-Elk Volunteer Ambulance, and Clarion-based State Police were dispatched to the scene.

No additional details on the crashes are available at this time.

Police are expected to release additional information within the next 48 hours.
