OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Clarion High School graduate Maci Thornton became the 23rd member of Messiah women’s basketball’s 1,000-point club Wednesday in a 56-47 road win over Stevenson.

Thornton netted 12 points in the victory for the Falcons, who are ranked No. 8 in NCAA Division III with a 14-1 record.

The milestone came with 3:56 left in the third quarter when she hit a jumper in the paint.

On the season, Thornton is averaging 16.5 points per game and is the second-leading scorer on the team. She also adds 3.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game and leads Messiah with 45 steals.
