Driver Killed After Car Crashes into Utility Pole on Route 157

CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A driver was killed in a Sunday afternoon crash on State Route 157 in Cranberry Township.

According to Franklin-based State Police, a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt was traveling west on Route 157 when for unknown reasons lost control and struck a utility pole on the south side of Route 157, south of Old Kahle Road, at 358 Route 157, in Cranberry Township, Venango County.

Police say the vehicle continued west on the south side of the roadway coming to a final rest approximately 111 feet from the initial impact with the utility pole.

At some point during the crash, the driver was ejected from the vehicle and was found deceased upon arrival, according to police.

The roadway was closed for several hours following the accident.

The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was removed from the scene by Lowry’s Towing.

Seneca Volunteer Fire Department and Community Ambulance Service also assisted at the scene.

The name of the driver was not released.

The investigation is continuing.

On Sunday evening, authorities confirmed to exploreClarion.com that the incident was a two-vehicle accident.
