BUTLER CO., Pa. (EYT) — One child was killed and two others were injured after being struck by a vehicle while waiting for a school bus this morning in Butler County.

According to KDKA, the incident occurred shortly before 9:00 a.m. on Monday at the intersection of Geibel Road and Pine Drive, in Summit Township, Butler County, where three children were waiting for their school bus.

Eyewitnesses told police a car came around a bend and struck the children as they stood near a speed limit sign.

State police stated that the strong glare of the sun may have had an effect on the driver’s vision as she turned.

Police also noted that the driver did stop at a nearby stop sign before making the turn.

Two of the children were transported by helicopter while a third was transported to the hospital in a personal vehicle, according to police.

Names and the conditions of the two surviving children have not been released; however, reports indicate they are siblings.

According to state police, the driver of the vehicle did stop at the scene. It is uncertain whether any charges will be filed.
