CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — Clarion Area School board members were given a tour of the renovated Clarion Elementary School during Tuesday’s board meeting, which was held in the library of the elementary school.

The tour started in the library where it was pointed out that lighting was now brighter thanks to LED lights and more natural light.

Also, a corner of the library was fixed with the wall being rebuilt.

Continuing into the hallway outside the library, wires for a new security system being installed in the school were pointed out. The security system is 50 to 60 percent complete will all the work being done in-house saving the district 75 percent of what the cost would have been to a bid-out contract.

Next on the tour was the new double-door security vestibule to enter the school. Non-school employees and students must first check in at the security vestibule inside the doorway to the far left when looking at the front of the school. Once they are buzzed through those doors, they must be buzzed through a second pair of doors to enter.

The cafeteria was next on the tour, and board members were informed that the cooking can now take place in the cafeteria. For many years, elementary meals were prepared at the high school and then transported to the elementary school.
