Police Release Details on New Bethlehem Area Crash

PORTER TWP., Pa. (EYT) — State Police in Clarion have released the details of a one-vehicle accident that occurred early Sunday morning in Porter Township.

According to police, around 1:24 a.m. on Sunday, January 13, 24-year-old Shelby G. Griffiths of New Kensington was operating a 2007 Buick Lucerne, traveling south on State Route 66 just west of Smith Road.

Police say the Griffiths failed to negotiate a right-hand curve and struck the end of a guide rail on the east side of the road. Following the initial impact, the vehicle returned to the roadway and came to a final rest facing south in the northbound lane.

Griffiths was not injured in the crash.

She was cited for speeding.

New Bethlehem Volunteer Fire Company, New Bethlehem Borough Police Department, PennDOT, and Horvath Towing assisted at the scene.
