kingsBARKEYVILLE BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – Firefighters responded to a fire at Kings Family Restaurant in Barkeyville Tuesday morning.

According to a representative of Venango County Emergency Management, the call came in around 5:56 a.m. for a structure fire at Kings Family Restaurant in Barkeyville Borough.

Clintonville Volunteer Fire Department, Emlenton Volunteer Fire Department, Harrisville Volunteer Fire Company, Pine Township Engine Company, Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company and Rescue Team, and Superior Ambulance Service responded to the scene.

According to Clintonville Volunteer Fire Department Gerry Rea, the issue was discovered when employees arrived to open the business for the day and opened a door to discover smoke inside the building.

When the firefighters arrived, they traced the source of the smoke to one of the building’s furnaces on the roof.

According to Rea, shutting off the gas and power to the furnace allowed them to get the fire under control quickly. It was then extinguished completely.

“After we got it out, we cleared the other departments and stayed to get the building aired out so they could try to open up for the day,” Rea said.

No injuries were reported.

“We had a really great response from all of the departments involved,” Rea noted.

The scene was cleared around 7:30 a.m.

The restaurant was able to open following the fire.
