Clarion Fire & Hose Company 1 Chief Doug Preston told exploreClarion.com the fire was relatively small and was quickly extinguished.

According to Preston, the source of the fire was a bag of salt left on a heater, which caused the bag to melt and ignite a fire along an interior wall.

“It was nothing major, though,” Preston noted, stating that the damage was minimal.

The building is currently vacant and no one was inside at the time of the fire.

The scene was cleared at 9:52 p.m.
