Police: Elderly Clarion Man Forged Doctor’s Signature on Prescription Refill

MONROE TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A 76-year-old Clarion man is in hot water after he allegedly forged a local doctor’s signature on a prescription refill.

A release issued on Wednesday by Clarion-based State Police Tpr. Doverspike indicates James Rhoades went to the Clarion Walmart Pharmacy to refill his friend’s prescription around 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 27, 2018.

According to the release, Rhoades retrieved an unsigned prescription refill document from a known Strattanville woman. Rhoades allegedly forged a New Bethlehem doctor’s signature on the form and gave it to a worker at Walmart Pharmacy.

Pharmacy workers recognized that the signature was forged and contacted the state police.

Rhoades is being charged with felony forgery and misdemeanor drug forgery through Magisterial District Judge Timothy P. Schill’s office.
