Man Accused of Assaulting Multiple People During Brawl Due in Court Today

RIMERSBURG, Pa. (EYT) — A man accused of assaulting several people during a brawl at a residence in Rimersburg Borough is scheduled to stand for a preliminary hearing today.

Court documents indicate 38-year-old Andrew W. Ealy, of West Sunbury, will face a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Jeffrey C. Miller at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, February 12.

He is facing the following charges:

– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2 (three counts)
– Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary (three counts)

He is currently free on a surety bond posted by a professional bondsman.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, on Saturday, February 2, Officer Hawk of the New Bethlehem Borough Police Department received a call for a physical fight in progress involving multiple individuals at a location on Main Street in Rimersburg Borough.

According to the complaint, upon his arrival Officer Hawk observed a male wearing a red long-sleeved sweatshirt with several lacerations to his face on the back porch of the residence.

The complaint notes that the male’s face was covered in blood and he was screaming that he was leaving.

Officer Hawk advised the man, who was later identified as Andrew Ealy, to calm down and sit down multiple times, however, according to the complaint, Ealy refused and at one point, got on his hands and knees, grabbed Officer Hawk’s leg, and screamed at him to take him away. At that time, Officer Hawk forced Ealy up off the ground to detain him until the situation was investigated.

According to the complaint, while Officer Hawk was placing Ealy in handcuffs, Ealy pulled away numerous times stating he was going to leave. Ealy was then handcuffed and placed in Officer Hawk’s patrol vehicle.

Officer Hawk then proceeded inside the residence where he observed a known male with a bloody face holding his nose and screaming that it was broken.

EMS was then put on standby.

According to the complaint, there were multiple people inside the residence, and a known female explained to Officer Hawk that the fight began when Ealy wanted to leave. The woman stated that she refused to leave and Ealy then shoved her twice and punched her once on top of her head.

Following the initial altercation, Ealy then went upstairs and began to fight with a second known male. According to the complaint, Ealy specifically stated he was going “to kick [the second male’s] a**.” When Ealy went upstairs, the second male struck him and Ealy then struck the second male in the mouth with a closed fist. The first known male then kicked Ealy down the stairs of the residence, and Ealy punched the first known male in the face, possibly breaking his nose.

The complaint notes that EMS arrived at the scene and both parties were checked. The first known male was taken by ambulance to the Clarion Hospital Emergency Room, while Ealy refused treatment.

Ealy was arraigned at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 3, in front of Judge Miller.
