The Golden Eagles found some offensive success in the first half scoring 35 points and shooting 41 percent from the floor, but the early lead built by the Tigers was too steep to overcome. Salem built a double-digit lead late in the first half and led 56-35 at the break.

Junior guard Elijah Cottrill’s game-high 17 points led the Blue and Gold, while Khari Williams added nine points of his own. Javontay Pipkin also chipped in eight points, while Lawrence Lemon grabbed a team-high eight boards in 26 minutes of work for Clarion.

Salem was paced by Malik Toppin, who finished the night with 16 points and 16 rebounds on 8 of 11 shooting. The Tigers also held a 45-38 advantage in rebounds.

The win was the third in a row for Salem who now sits at 16-8 overall. Clarion drops to 5-16.

The Golden Eagles will return to their home court on Saturday, February 16th, when they take on Slippery Rock University at 3:00 p.m. in the Student Rec Center.
