5c658ca2c91b3Kay A. Flores, 75, of Shippenville, formerly of Parker, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Shippenville Healthcare and Rehabilitation.

Kay was born in West Sunbury on December 8, 1943. She was the daughter of the late John P. and Bertha A. Perkins Green.

She was a 1962 graduate of Bloom Township High School in Chicago Heights, IL.

She was married on August 8, 1960 to Candelario Flores Jr.

He precedes her in death.

She was best known as a mother, grandmother, and gourmet cook.

She worked for Goldsmith and Associates as a bookkeeper for five years.

She later went on to cosmetology school and graduated at the top of her class.

She worked as a hairdresser for more than twenty years.

She also worked as a librarian for the Foxburg Free Library.

In her spare time, Kay enjoyed reading, playing cards, crocheting doilies and playing bingo.

She is survived by her daughters, Clarissa Amato and her husband, Salvatore, of Shippenville, and Teresa Stueck and her husband, Tim, of Cedar Rapids, IA, four grandchildren, Chantel Kirchner and her husband Matt, of Pittsburgh, Kathryn Amato of Shippenville, Evan Stueck of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Salvatore Amato III of Shippenville, a brother, John Green and his wife, Sally of Winamac of Indiana. Also surviving is one niece, Sara Green, and two nephews, John Green III, and David Green and his wife, Stacy, all of Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home Inc., 802 Grove St., St. Petersburg, from Noon – 2 and 5 — 7 p.m. Sunday.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 715 Main St., Clarion, with the Rev. B. LaMounte Sayers, church pastor, officiating.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Flores name may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.

Interment will be in Foxburg Cemetery.
