Harold W. “Bill” Yeager, Sr.
Born November 21, 1936 in Oil City, he was a son of the late Harold H. and Mary Jane Heigley Yeager.
After graduating from Oil City High School in the class of 1954, Bill served in the United States Army.
He was a mechanic who worked for Worthington Steel, Cyclops, Continental Can Company, Crawford Containers in Conneaut, OH, and Joy, retiring on August 1, 2000.
Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman and actively pursued his hobbies.
Mr. Yeager’s first wife, Betty Jo, preceded him in death, and he was later married to the former Carole L. Anderson Rhodes on February 14, 1987 in the First Presbyterian Church, and she survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Harold W. Yeager, Jr. of Oil City, Donald K. Yeager and his wife Patti of Oil City, and Michael A. Yeager and his girlfriend Marcy of Oil City; two daughters, April L. Rupert and her husband Joe of Oil City, and Marjorie E. Sanford and her husband Bill of Oil City; seven step-children, Terry Rhodes and his wife of CA, Thomas Rhodes of Seneca, Randall Rhodes and his fiancée Jacki of Reno, Kevin Rhodes and his wife Joyce of Oil City, Gregory Rhodes and his wife Edie of Oil City, Elizabeth Blum and her husband Mike of Rockland, and Cinda Walentoski and her husband Randy of Oil City; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are a brother, Robert Yeager and his wife Kathy of Albany, NY; a sister, Dorothy L. Wilson of Seneca; and a special family friend, Tina Eggers of Oil City.
In addition to his parents and first wife, Bill was preceded in death by a grandson, Harold W. Yeager III; two great-grandsons, Owen Poston and Keaton Armstrong; and a step-son, Jeffrey Rhodes.
Friends will be received at the Morrison Funeral Home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and again on Saturday from 10 to 11 am.
A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 11 am with Ron Hogue officiating.
Interment with full military honors accorded by the VETS Honor Guard will be in Lamey Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
