Eugene R. “Ben” Rapp, Sr., of Les Lane, Highland Township, Clarion, passed away at his home on Februay 20, 2019. He was 83 years of age.

He was born on December 21, 1935 in Lucinda, the son of the late Leo and Josephine (Hartle) Rapp.

Part of a large family of 14 children, he was also preceded in death by 12 of his siblings.

Ben is survived by his wife, Shirley, of Mayport; his sons, Kenny (Sue) Rapp, of Busti, Terry (Deb) Rapp, of Mayport, Gene (Emily) Rapp, Jr., of Mayport, and Robert Rapp, of Ridgway; and his daughter, Shelly (Jerry) Brown, of Strattanville. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Rose Marie Germita, of Mt. Washington, and an extended family.

He was employed by the Owens-Illinois Glass Container plant in Clarion for 27 years, retiring in 1997.

He also worked at Redbank Mills in New Bethlehem for 20 years.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and the Knights of Columbus.

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory in Clarion. As per Ben’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services.
