SNYDER TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Authorities say a local woman lost her life in a crash that occurred Sunday evening on State Route 28, in Snyder Township.

Abagail Dobson, 23, of Brockway, was traveling south on Route 28 just east of Salandra Lane, in Snyder Township, Jefferson County, around 8:14 p.m. when she lost control of her vehicle while negotiating a slight left curve in the roadway.

DuBois-based State Police said Dobson’s vehicle traveled into the northbound lane where it was struck by a northbound vehicle operated by Frank Barber, age and city of residence are unknown.

Dobson, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene by Jefferson County Coroner Brenda Shumaker at 9:10 p.m.

Shumaker also noted that the conditions in the area of the crash were extremely icy and windy.

“It was like a climate of its own up there,” Shumaker told exploreClarion.com.

Shumaker said Dobson had recently moved to Brockway from the Kersey area.

Frank Barber, and his passenger, Andrea Barber, were wearing seatbelts. While Frank Barber escaped injury, Andrea Barber suffered suspected minor injuries.

DuBois EMS, Brockway Area Ambulance, and Brockway Volunteer Hose Company assisted at the scene.
