6075223_fbsEdward J. Lynam, age 83, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at West Shore Hospital.

Born January 14, 1936 in Oil City, he was the son of the late Wilbur F. and Ethel (Bessey) Lynam.

Ed was a graduate of Penn State University where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and went on to earn his Master’s Degree from George Washington University.

He spent his career in the U.S. Navy, ultimately retiring having achieved the rank of Captain.

He was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, the Mechanicsburg Club, the Mechanicsburg VFW, and the West Shore Elks Lodge 2257.

Surviving is his wife, Icilda “Icy” (Lowe) Lynam; his daughters, Karen M. Hildum and husband Keith of Pittsburgh and Anne M. Hamlin and husband Matthew of Mechanicsburg; his grandchildren, Jason, Michael and Keira Hildum and Erika and Jeff Hamlin; his two brothers, Wilbur F. Lynam Jr. of Oil City and James R. Lynam and wife Rosie of Ocala, FL; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Thursday, March 14 at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 1 Peter Drive, Mechanicsburg, where there will be a visitation from 9:00 to 10:00 AM.

Burial with military honors will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 1 Peter Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055 or to a charity of your personal choice.
