Robert Eugene McQuaid

Robert-Mcquaid-1552563663Robert Eugene McQuaid, 93 of Sandy Lake Township, passed away on March 13, 2019 at Quality Life Services in Grove City.

Robert was born on August 18, 1925 in Sandy Lake Township to the late Lawrence H. and Jane Pizer McQuaid.

He was a graduate of Sandy Lake High School and went on to serve his Country in the United States Navy from 1943-1946 as a Pharmacist Third Class.

He worked for R.D. Werner Co. in Greenville as a Production Manager and retired in 1987 after 36 years.

While at Werner’s he developed a plan to increase bulk heat treating system, this in turn increased productivity, something he was very proud of.

Robert married his beloved wife, Jane Elizabeth Brest, on March 5, 1944, recently celebrating their 75th anniversary, she survives at home. He often spoke of the two romances of his life, his loving wife and his job at R.D. Werner.

Robert was a member, Past Master, and Instructor of the Sandy Lake Lodge #434 and received his 50-year membership pin.

He was also a member of the Sandy Lake Presbyterian Church.

In his earlier years he was a boy scout leader and an avid hunter, loving to take out his English Setter bird dogs. He was the past president and life member of the Sandy Lake Sportsman’s Club. One of his favorite hobbies was to watch and bet on horse races. He also enjoyed buying and flipping houses.

In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by his sons, Kent McQuaid and wife Patty of Sandy Lake, Keith McQuaid and wife Carol of Largo, FL, grandchildren Sean McQuaid and wife Tracy of St. Petersburg, FL, Brendan McQuaid and companion Tiffany of Denver, CO, Mikayla Wimer of Sandy Lake, Samantha Wimer and Mackenzie Wimer both of Volant, great-grandchild Beckham McQuaid, and dear friends Steve and Shirley Hughes.

Robert was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed by his family.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brothers, James, Raymond, William, and George McQuaid, and sister Mary Bestwick.

Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Black Funeral Homes, Stoneboro & Sandy Lake.

A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.

Memorials may be made in Roberts name to Sandy Lake Lodge #434, PO Box 434, Sandy Lake, or the Sandy Lake Presbyterian Church, 3461 Sandy Lake-New Lebanon Rd, Sandy Lake.
