Rose M. Smith

Rose M. Smith of Clarion passed away on March 14, 2019 at the Clarion Hospital following a period of declining health. She was 74 years of age.

Rose was born on June 6, 1944 in Marble, the daughter of the late Stephen J. and Alice M. (Lauer) Niederriter. On May 26, 1962, she married William J. Smith. He preceded her in death in January, 2005 after more than 42 years of marriage.

She is survived by her children; son Bret A. Smith of Clarion; daughters Dawn M. Zimmerman (J.Clair) of Hegins, and Tina M. Conrad of Sigel; and her two grandchildren, Devon C. Zimmerman, PhD, and Kelsey Zimmerman.

In addition, Rose is survived by her siblings, brothers, Richard Niederriter of Venus, and Randy Niederriter of Lickingville; and sisters, Marion Steiner of Michigan, Kathleen Strotman of Marble, and Marie Ditz of Hermitage; along with an extended family of niece and nephews.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; a son-in-law, Ronald Conrad; brothers, John, James, and Ronald Niederriter; and sisters, Donna Budzinski and Marlene Hamel.

Rose was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion where she was active in several areas as a volunteer. She retired from as a manager from the State Liquor Store (Wine and Spirits Store) in 2001.

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory in Clarion. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 715 Main Street, Clarion, with Rev. Monty Sayers officiating. Inurnment will be at Cedarview Memorial Park, Strattanville.
