The Golden Eagles (8-9) will be back in action tomorrow when they take on the Hawks at 10 am, then close the weekend trip against East Stroudsburg at 2 pm.

A multitude of Golden Eagles drove the offense on Saturday afternoon, including a searing 4-for-4 performance from Ben Barth that encompassed a stolen base and a two RBIs to cap the pact for the Blue and Gold. Catcher Thomas Lavin also went 2-for-4 on the day driving in one run while Chandler Palyas went 2-for-5 with a pair of RBIs of his own.

Kyle Thompson got the start on the mound tossing 7.1 innings, striking out six and walking just one. Utilizing the bullpen to end the game, Bailey Durocher came in in relief, throwing a solid 1.2 innings allowing three hits and fanning two Saint Anselm batters.

Bouncing back from a tough loss yesterday, the Clarion bats satisfied as the Golden Eagles racked up 10 runs on 14 hits.

The Hawks struck first in the top of the second inning but that lead was quickly clipped in the bottom of the fourth inning when Cole Shaffer reached on an error by the shortstop, allowing Ben Barth and Lavin to score to cut the Saint Anselm lead to one at 3-2.

From that point on it was all Clarion as Saint Anselm was held to just one more run the entire game. In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Golden Eagles took the lead for good, courtesy of a Barth single through the left side that scored Nick Fugh. In the next at bat Shaffer singled scoring Lavin to make the score 4-3. Dan Janoson added one more run when he reached on an infield single that scored Barth. Palyas would put the game out of reach for good in that same inning when he roped a double down the left field line that plated Janoson and Shaffer, making the score 7-3.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Dan Fox picked up an RBI when he reached safely on a fielder’s choice that scored Bryce Jackson. Clarion would add three more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, thanks to singles from Lavin and Barth to reach the final score of 10-4.

The Golden Eagles will be back in action on tomorrow, March 17, when they end their weekend road trip with a pair of games starting at 10 a.m. against Saint Anselm and again at 2 p.m. against East Stroudsburg.
