Local Woman Accused of Assaulting EMTs

MERCER CO., Pa. — A Venango County woman is facing assault charges in Mercer County after she allegedly assaulted several EMTs.

According to court documents, the Mercer-based State Police filed four second-degree felony counts of aggravated assault against 37-year-old Amy Jean Tillia, of Polk.

According to a criminal complaint, around 11:16 p.m. on Friday, March 22, Trooper Kightlinger, of the Mercer-based State Police, responded to the Grove City Medical Center emergency room on East Main Street Extension, in Pine Township, Mercer County, at the request of Superior Ambulance Service for issues with an overdose patient.

Trooper Kightlinger met with two Superior Ambulance Service EMTs who stated they were treating Amy J. Tillia for symptoms of an overdose when she began to become combative, the complaint indicates.

The EMTs reported that Tillia attempted to kick, bite, and strike them. One of the EMTs noted that Tillia kicked her in the groin area and pinched her on the insides of both arms, according to the complaint.

Trooper Kightlinger then spoke to two more Superior Ambulance Service EMTs on the phone.

According to the complaint, the other two EMTs reported that Tillia also attempted to kick, bite, and strike them. She had scratched or made contact with one of EMT’s arms.

The Grove City Police Department assisted at Grove City Hospital prior to Officer Kightlinger’s arrival.

Tillia was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Dennis M. Songer at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 23.

Unable to post $5,000.00 monetary bail, she was lodged in the Mercer County Jail.

She was released on March 26 after a professional bondsman posted a surety bond.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 4, with Magisterial District Judge D. Neil McEwen presiding.
