(EYT) — Police say a brake failure led to a one-vehicle crash on Route 28 in Barnett Township on Friday. According to police, around 12:09 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 42-year-old Jeremy A. Chestnut, of Knoxdale, was operating a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan, traveling north on State Route 28 just north of McCullough Drive in Barnett Township, Jefferson County. Police say Chestnut reported the brakes on his vehicle failed, and he was unable to stop. The vehicle then traveled off the roadway, across the bulk foods parking lot, and went over the embankment before coming to a final rest against a tree. Chestnut and his passenger, 50-year-old Gina M. Chestnut, of Knoxdale, were both wearing seatbelts and were not injured. McPherson’s Towing assisted with the removal of the vehicle. Chestnut was charged with a traffic violation.
