(EYT) — Police say a driver fell asleep and crashed his vehicle on Interstate 80 in Clinton Township on Sunday afternoon. According to police, around 2:03 p.m. on Sunday, March 31, 48-year-old Matthew L. Hoke, of Selinsgrove, was operating a 2011 Ford Escape, traveling east on Interstate 80 near the Clintonville exit in Clinton Township, Venango County. Police say Hoke fell asleep at the wheel, and his vehicle went off the right side of the roadway, striking an embankment. The vehicle then continued up the ditch where it came to a final rest. Hoke and his passenger, 45-year-old Denise J. Hoke, of Selinsgrove, were both wearing seatbelts and were not injured. Hovis Towing towed the vehicle from the scene. Hoke was charged with a traffic violation.
