Marijuana Legalization Listening Tour Coming to Forest County on April 13

John FettermanFOREST CO., Pa. (EYT) — Lt. Governor John Fetterman will be bringing his marijuana legalization listening tour to Forest County on Saturday, April 13.

The event will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Tionesta Volunteer Fire Department.

Fetterman will also be holding an event at the Foundry in Reynoldsville, Jefferson County, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. the same day.

The events are open to the public.

The statewide listening tour, designed for the Lt. Governor to hear from Pennsylvanians about the possibility of legalizing recreational marijuana, was first announced in January.

“More and more states are successfully implementing marijuana legalization, especially those surrounding Pennsylvania, and we should learn from their efforts, and better understand the potential fiscal impacts of this reality before taking any collective action,” stated Governor Wolf.

Lt. Governor Fetterman plans to travel to all 67 counties in Pennsylvania to hear from citizens of the state on whether they agree with the legalization of recreational marijuana or have particular recommendations on the topic.

“We want to make sure all Pennsylvanians have a say,” explained Fetterman.

Both Governor Wolf and Lt. Governor Fetterman believe it is time for Pennsylvania to take a serious and honest look at legalizing recreational marijuana. Medical marijuana has been legal in Pennsylvania since 2016, and Wolf stressed that any proposal for legalizing recreational marijuana would need to be implemented after the medical marijuana program is fully implemented.

For those who may not be able to attend a listening session or are simply interested in providing feedback about legalizing recreational marijuana, the Lieutenant Governor’s office has also established a webpage form for citizens to give feedback on the issue.

Lt. Governor Fetterman visited Venango County on Sunday, March 10.

Dates for events in other area counties have not yet been released.
