Clarion Woman Accused of Stealing Incarcerated Woman’s Debit Card Faces Hearing on Tuesday

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — A Clarion woman who allegedly stole an incarcerated woman’s debit card and made unauthorized purchases will stand for a hearing on Tuesday.

According to court documents, a preliminary hearing for 39-year-old Turia Rose Miller, of Clarion, is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, with Magisterial District Judge Duane L. Quinn presiding.

She faces the following charges:

– Access Device Issued to Another Who Did Not Authorize Use, Misdemeanor 2
– Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Misdemeanor 3

She is currently free on $5,000.00 unsecured bail.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, Turia Miller allegedly stole a known woman’s debit card on an unknown date from the woman’s residence on South 5th Avenue while the victim was incarcerated in the Jefferson County Jail.

The complaint states that “Miller went to Clarion Walmart on December 8, 2018, and purchased items worth $12.00. She then traveled to Cogos and made a purchase for $2.64 and to Smoke for Less and made a purchase for $10.00.”

The total amount was $24.64 worth of purchases and $270.00 worth of overdraft fees that accumulated while the victim was in jail. “The victim’s bank statement shows that overdraft fees occurred after purchases were made by Miller,” according to the complaint.

Court documents indicate Clarion-based State Police filed criminal charges against Miller on February 21 in Judge Quinn’s office. She was arraigned on March 4.
