Woman Found Dead in Sandy Lake

SANDY LAKE, Pa. (EYT) — An investigation is underway after the deceased body of a woman was discovered Tuesday night in Sandy Lake.

According to WFJM News, Mercer-based State Police released the identity of the woman on Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the woman, identified as 56-year-old Stephanie Marie Kommer, was found at a residence on the 5300 block of Franklin Street shortly after 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.

According to a release from the Mercer County Coroner’s Office, she was pronounced dead in her residence at 12:20 a.m. on Wednesday by Deputy Coroner Mike Renner.

At the request of the Sandy Lake Police Department and the Mercer County District Attorney’s office, the State Police Criminal Investigation Unit was then called to the scene.

An autopsy will be performed by Dr. Eric Vey in Erie to determine the cause and manor of her death.

The incident remains under investigation by Mercer-based State Police and Sandy Lake Borough Police.
