Clarion-Limestone Teachers Approve Tentative Contract

CLARION TWP., Pa. (EYT) — The labor dispute that has cast a shadow over Clarion-Limestone School District this year may finally be drawing to a close.

On Wednesday afternoon, Andrea Deible, president of Clarion-Limestone Area Education Association, announced to school board members that the teachers had accepted a tentative contract.

According to school board president Molly Greenawalt, the board is currently advertising for a meeting at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, to vote on the contract. The meeting will be held in the high school cafeteria and will replace the regularly scheduled May 1 meeting.

The vote on the contract will mark the end of a dispute that has gone on for nearly a year, as teachers at Clarion-Limestone have been working without a contract since June of 2018.

Student food programs were the other focus of Wednesday’s meeting, as the board renewed a contract with Nutrition Inc. for food service, and also approved continued participation in the National School Lunch Program through Nutrition.

The board also heard an update on the progress of the football co-op program with Clarion Area School District following a meeting involving representatives from both schools, which is continuing to move forward, according to Greenawalt.
