Braxton White Formally Announces Candidacy for Clarion County Commissioner

MARIANNE, Pa. – Clarion Area School Board member and U.S. Army veteran Braxton White formally announced his candidacy as a Democrat for Clarion County Commissioner at a recent gathering of friends and family.

“Clarion County deserves to be represented by someone who is dedicated to public service and in tune with the issues facing everyday people in our area,” said White in his campaign announcement.

White is running to “promote progress in our community,” according to the release.

During the peak of the Iraq war troop surge in 2008, White enlisted in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.

“His six years of honorable service to our state and country, and his work with the Clarion Area School Board, demonstrate his investment in our region,” the release continues.

“The people of Clarion County work incredibly hard. Some work two or three jobs just to put food on the table and keep a roof over their heads. Others have been born into such difficult circumstances it seems impossible to get ahead. Seniors on a fixed income are barely getting by. Our social services are underfunded. Vacant and abandoned properties pepper our landscape. It is clear that we need bold and creative leadership to tackle these problems.”

“White is prepared to offer current and evidenced-based solutions to these problems. His ideas include programs to reduce blight, expand public transportation to help our seniors and others without reliable vehicles, provide new incentives to entrepreneurs to start businesses, and use creative funding streams like grants and cooperatives to increase our flexibility and revenue.”

White and his high school sweetheart Stephanie have been married since 2010 and live in Marianne with their four-year-old son, Will. Braxton spent four years as a drafting instructor at Triangle Tech in DuBois before recently being employed as a CAD operator by the EADS Group in Clarion.

White is asking Clarion County for write-in votes in the primary election on May 21. Please direct all inquiries to electbraxtonwhite@gmail.com.
