The Golden Eagles sit in 14th place after two days of action.

Fernald was the conference’s runner-up in the 400 during the indoor season and battled through a difficult headwind to post the seventh-best time of the preliminaries early Friday afternoon. She took fourth in the top heat with a time of 59.33, putting her just 0.02 seconds behind Seton Hill’s Terry Lee Talasky. Fernald is assured of notching points for the Golden Eagles as he competes in the finals of the event tomorrow.

Elsewhere in the sprints, the 4×100-meter relay team of Courtney Young, Amanda Batey, Emily Young and Katlynn Traister came up just one spot shy of qualifying for the finals in their event. The quartet finished ninth with a season-best time of 50.31.

Four Golden Eagles competed in the 3000-meter Steeplechase on Friday, with Letizia Collini leading the pack with a 12th place finish. She crossed the line in 12:15.69, less than a second ahead of 13th place finisher Haley Schaller. Morgan Manglaviti finished in 12:22.32, and Danielle Stoner rounded out the pack with a time of 12:39.26.

Rounding out the Golden Eagle performances on the day was Katie Brest, who took 14th in the Discus. The senior thrower made her final attempt her best, tossing the implement 35.47 meters.
