Ellsworth Albert Zimmerman

Screenshot at May 16 09-08-50Ellsworth Albert Zimmerman, age 92, of Marienville, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 13, 2019 at the Brookville Penn Highlands Hospital in Brookville, PA.

He was born on June 2, 1926 to the late Ralph Albert and Nora Ethel (Bussard) Zimmerman in Emerickville, PA. Prior to graduating from the Brookville High School, Ellsworth joined the Army Air Corp and served honorably during World War II. After his military service, he finished his High School requirements.

On October 8, 1947, he married Irene Valarie (Gifford) Zimmerman; she preceded him in death. Ellsworth worked for Columbia Gas Company for forty-two years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Marienville United Methodist Church, the Renova American Legion #442, and he was a member of the Mason’s for over sixty-eight years. Ellsworth enjoyed playing golf, watching sports, especially Pittsburgh Pirates baseball. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, and wood working in his younger years. His favorite TV show was Everybody Loves Raymond.

Ellsworth is survived by three children; John E. (Peggy) Zimmerman of Milton, PA; Sandra L. (Thomas) Jaques of Atglen; PA, and Susan K. (Archie) Kelley of Renovo, PA; five granddaughters; Amy (Joseph) Schaefer, Melissa Abbey, Amber (Shawn) DeFiore, April Kelley, Lindsay (Raymond) Tarantella; one grandson; Todd Zimmerman; eight great-grandchildren; Quintin, Collin, and Emily Shaefer, Dominic and Hannah DeFiore, Ava, Addison, and Alyse Tarantella; and one sister; Charlotte A. Ford.

In addition to his wife and parents, Ellsworth is preceded in death by two brothers; Russell Zimmerman and Floyd Zimmerman; and six sisters; Helen Rhodes, Faye Ford, Madelyn Dispenza, Betty Zimmerman, Donna Zimmerman, and Patty Zimmerman.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, May 16, 2019, from 2 – 4pm and 6 – 8pm, at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville PA, 15825. A second opportunity for viewing will take place on Friday, May 17, 2019, from 10am – 11am at the Marienville United Methodist Church, 201 N. Forest Street, Marienville PA 16239.

A funeral service will immediately follow the second viewing, beginning at 11:00am, and officiated by Pastor Daniel G. Richter. Interment will take place at North Forest Cemetery, Marienville, Forest County PA.

Memorial Contributions may be made in his name to the Marienville United Methodist Church.
