Case Against Emlenton Teen Accused of Selling Marijuana Moves Forward

EMLENTON, Pa. (EYT) — The case against an Emlenton teen allegedly found with marijuana in his possession has been transferred to plea court.

According to court documents, the following charges against 18-year-old Carter Mitchell Chase, of Emlenton, have been transferred to the Venango County Court of Common Pleas:

– Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony
– Intentional Possession Controlled Substance By Person Not Registered, Misdemeanor
– Marijuana-Small Amount Personal Use, Misdemeanor
– Use/Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor

The charges stem from an investigation conducted by Trooper Barnhill, of Franklin-based State Police, into a possible controlled substance possession case.

According to a criminal complaint, on May 7, Trooper Barnhill traveled to Carter Chase’s residence located in the 500 block of Riddle Street, Emlenton, in Scrubgrass Township, Venango County.

Through the course of the investigation, Trooper Barnhill discovered “Chase possessed over seven ounces of marijuana and 50 ‘Dab Cards’ (which are THC vaporizer pen inserts),” according to the complaint.

Chase also allegedly possessed numerous items of drug paraphernalia and approximately $2,000.00 in cash in the same book bag as the controlled substances and paraphernalia.

According to the complaint, Chase admitted to selling the controlled substances.

He was arraigned at 2:00 p.m. on May 7 in front of Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish.

He was lodged in the Venango County Jail on $15,000.00 monetary bail.

Chase waived the charges for court during a preliminary hearing at 8:30 a.m. on May 15.

His bail was changed to $15,000.00 unsecured on May 15, and he is currently free, awaiting further court proceedings.
