GeorgiaGeorgia D. Peterson, 71, of Astral Road, Franklin, died at her residence on Friday afternoon, May 17, 2019.

She was born in Franklin on June 6, 1947 to the late Russell and Margaret (Williams) Swanton.

She was a graduate of Franklin High School.

In her earlier years, she was very involved with the 4-H program. She was also active with the Victory Heights LoCal Gals.

Mrs. Peterson was a member of East Grove Methodist Church.

Georgia enjoyed reading, knitting, puzzles, taking walks in the nearby woods to spot wildlife, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She worked for Wonder Bread, the General Manifold Co. in Franklin, and most recently was employed in the cafeteria at Cranberry High School.

She was married in the East Grove Methodist Church on June 26, 1971 to Thomas H. Peterson, and he survives.

Also surviving is a son, Thomas H. Peterson, Jr. and his wife Stephanie of Cranberry; a step-daughter, Tonya L. Rich of Holiday, Florida; five grandchildren, Dodge, Wyatt, and Grace Peterson of Cranberry, and Ryne and Rene Rich of Holiday, Florida; a great-granddaughter, Everly Cann; a sister, Kathleen Swanton Smith of Franklin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Irene Swanton; a sister, Jackie R. Swanton; and a brother-in-law, Ronald W. Smith.

Friends and family will be received Wednesday (May 22) from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. in Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home Wednesday (May 22) at 1 p.m. with Jon Peterson, Georgia’s brother-in-law, officiating. Interment will follow in Rockland Cemetery, in Rockland Township, Kennerdell.
