Police: Two Men Caught Stealing Over $500 in Merchandise from Clarion Walmart

MONROE TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Two men are facing charges after they were caught stealing over $500.00 in merchandise from the Clarion Walmart store.

Court documents indicate the Clarion-based State Police filed criminal charges against 60-year-old Rodger Joseph Mullarkey, of Allison Park, Pa., and 47-year-old Ronald Thomas Veatch, of Pittsburgh, Pa.

According to a criminal complaint, around 6:55 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, Trooper Reilly, of the Clarion-based State Police, was dispatched to the Walmart store in Monroe Township, Clarion County, for a report of a retail theft.

While he was en route, he was updated that two males — one who was bald and wearing tan pants and a green shirt and another who was wearing a black hat and a black shirt — had stolen multiple items and were heading into the parking lot.

According to the complaint, upon Trooper Reilly’s arrival at the scene, he located the two individuals, identified as Rodger Mullarkey and Ronald Veatch, next to their vehicle, a silver Toyota Corolla. He was met there by a Loss Prevention Associate who stated that Mullarkey and Veatch were together on multiple days stealing assorted items, including ammunition and binoculars.

The complaint notes that the men were searched and stolen items were located on Veatch. Mullarkey’s vehicle was then searched, and additional stolen ammunition and a pair of binoculars were also located.

According to the complaint, the total amount stolen was $582.53.

Mullarkey and Veatch were arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Timothy P. Schill on Saturday, May 18.

Mullarkey was charged with the following offenses:

– Receiving Stolen Property, Felony 3
– Retail Theft-Take Merchandise, Felony 3
– Conspiracy — Retail Theft-Take Merchandise, Felony 3
– Possession Instrument Of Crime With Intent, Misdemeanor 1

Unable to post $15,000.00 monetary bail, he was lodged in the Clarion County Jail. He was released on Monday, May 20, on a surety bond posted by a professional bondsman.

The following charges were filed against Veatch:

– Retail Theft-Take Merchandise, Felony 3
– Possession Instrument Of Crime With Intent, Misdemeanor 1

Unable to post $15,000.00 monetary bail, he remains lodged in the Clarion County Jail.

Preliminary hearings are scheduled for 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28, with Judge Schill presiding.
