McNany Leads A-C Valley into D9 Softball Semifinals

Cami McNanyWEST FREEDOM, Pa. (D9Sports) — Cami McNany drove in two runs and Emily Wetzel scored three times, as third-seeded A-C Valley knocked off sixth-seeded Elk County Catholic, 7-2, in the District 9 Class 1A quarterfinals at the West Freedom Fire Department.

McNay was 1-for-3 with a double and two stolen bases with Wetzel going 3-for-4 with a stolen base and an RBI.

Andrea Mean was also 1-for-2 with a pair of walks, a run scored and an RBI for the Lady Falcons with Kaylee Eaton going 2-for-3 with an RBI and Kelsie Terwilliger going 1-for-3 with a double,

Rosina Nero was 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs for ECC.

Baylee Blauser got the win going five innings allowing two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out two. Sydnie Schmidt pitched two scoreless innings allowing three hits and striking out one.

Michelle Gerber took the loss going six innings giving up seven runs on 11 hits and three walks while striking out one.

A-C Valley will take on Clarion in the semifinals Thursday most likely at Clarion-Limestone.

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 15, COUDERSPORT 3, 5 INNINGS

COUDERSPORT, Pa. — Ashley Wruble went 3-for-3 with a home run, three runs scored and three RBIs to help fifth-seeded DuBois Central Catholic defeat Coudersport on the road, 15-3 in five innings, in the District 9 Class 1A quarterfinals.

Shay Gulvas drove in four runs and went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored for the Lady Cardinals. Avery Sickeri went 3-for-4 including a triple, three runs scored and two RBIs while Maia Cogley went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored. Jordan Kosko doubled with a pair of runs scored and an RBI.

DCC had an eight-run second inning and five-run third inning to go up 13-0 after three.

Coudersport scored all three of their runs in the fourth inning getting runs from Claudia Miller, Hope Daisley and Tori Miller to cut the deficit to 13-3.

The Lady Cardinals extended their lead with a pair of runs in the fifth from Wruble and Sickeri, both on passed balls.

Chelsea Streich had the only RBI for the Lady Falcons while Rosalyn Page, Miller and Daisley each had a base hit.

Morgan Tyler got the win in relief. She gave up three unearned run on three hits and a walk while striking out five in 4 ⅔ innings. Wruble started and lasted ⅓ of an inning. She struck out one and walked two while also hitting a batter.

Shaelyn Black took the loss. She gave up 15 runs, seven earned, on 14 hits, two walks and three hit batters while striking out three in five innings.

DCC will take on top-seeded Otto-Eldred Thursday most likely in St. Marys.
