Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, around 10:55 a.m. on Friday, May 17, Officers Wright and Kemmer, of the Clarion Borough Police Department, were dispatched to a residence on South Sixth Avenue to assist Clarion County Probation.

The officers arrived at the scene and spoke to Clarion County Probation Officer Kerle who advised that his office had reports from Children and Youth Services (CYS) of Jennifer Batich allegedly smoking methamphetamine in the presence of a juvenile.

Probation Officers responded to Batich’s residence, and she allegedly failed a urine screening, testing positive for methamphetamine.

Officers Kemmer and Wright stood in the hallway outside of Batich’s apartment while the probation officers conducted a search, with the door to the apartment open so the officers could see inside.

According to the complaint, Officer Wright observed the search as one of the probation officers opened a black purse and located a small ziplock bag containing crystal methamphetamine. Batich’s Pennsylvania identification was also found inside the same purse.

The complaint notes that another probation officer located a silver digital pocket scale on the end table directly below the purse, and a third officer located a Hot Rod Tubes cigarette tube box containing several small blue and green balloons—which are commonly used in the repackaging of controlled substances—on the windowsill in the bedroom, as well as a silver smoking pipe in a clear container in the living room.

Probation officers also located checks and a debit card belonging to a Cowansville, PA woman and old coins and jewelry. All items were turned over to Officer Wright, the complaint states.

Officer Wright then interviewed Daniel Greenawalt, who was also present at the residence.

Daniel GreenawaltAccording to the complaint, Greenawalt stated he was aware of the methamphetamine in Batich’s purse and said it belonged to both of them, but he declined to say where they get methamphetamine.

The complaint notes the bag of methamphetamine was weighed and measured 5.6699 grams.

Batich was lodged in the Clarion County Jail on a probation detainer on May 17.

Both individuals remain lodged in the Clarion County Jail.

Batich’s bail was set at $5,000.00, and Greenawalt’s was set at $15,000.00.
