Frederick T. Hinds

Frederick HindsFrederick T. Hinds, Jr., 88, of Oak Road, Oil City, died Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at Oil City Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Born April 18, 1931, in Oil City, he was a son of the late Frederick T. and Helen McDonald Hinds.

Fred was a 1949 graduate of St. Joseph High School.

Mr. Hinds served in the US Navy during the Korean War.

He worked as a pressman for Seneca Printing and The Derrick before working as a security guard for Allied Security, retiring in 1983.

Fred was a member of St. Joseph Church and the Oil City Knights of Columbus.

He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Steelers and the Pirates.

On May 1, 1954, he was married in Oil City to the former Margaret Perry, who preceded him in death on June 15, 2017.

Surviving are a son, Steven Hinds (Barb) of Oil City; two grandchildren, Stacy McMillen (Paul Rocco), and Christie Johnson (Keith); and three great-grandchildren, Violet and Brynlee McMillen, and Kelsey Johnson.

Also surviving is a sister, Helen Guth of Oil City.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Francis, and James Hinds; and a sister, Mary Allen.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Friday from 2 to 4 pm.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Friday at 4 pm with the Rev. Ian McElrath officiating and full military honors accorded by the VETS Honor Guard.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
