UPDATE: Authorities ID Woman Killed in Jefferson County Fire

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (EYT) — Jefferson County Coroner Brenda Shumaker has released the name of the individual killed in a residential fire in Punxsutawney early this morning.

According to Coroner Shumaker, 73-year-old Sally Geer, of Punxsutawney, was pronounced dead shortly after 5 a.m. following a structure fire that occurred at a residence on West Liberty Street in Punxsutawney.

Shumaker said the cause of death has not yet been determined and an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, June 5.

The fire was reported to the Jefferson County Department of Emergency Services around 4:10 a.m.

Nine area fire department responded, while another two were held on standby until the scene was cleared around 8:35 a.m.

Additional details on the cause of the fire have yet to be released.

The Ridgway-based State Police Fire Marshall Unit is investigating.
