David L. “Duke” Edwards

David L. “Duke” Edwards, Jr., 67, of Seneca, passed away Thursday evening, May 30, 2019, following a brief illness.

He was born April 13, 1952, to the late David L. Edwards, Sr. and Elda E. (Bish) Edwards. Also preceding him in death was his brother, James Edwards; and sister, Donna King. Duke was known to ‘raise some hell’ in his younger years, but it was his kind heart that he will be remembered for. He now joins the love of his life, Debra S. (VanWormer) Edwards, who preceded him in death on January 29, 2019.

Owning a junkyard, he would often help people by giving them any parts that they needed. When asked what they owed him, he’d say: “That’ll be a couple million, by the second Tuesday of next week.” Duke was a man who chose to live a simple life and was happiest at home. He was a hardworking and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend to all. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Surviving is his daughter, Jennifer R. Lawrence and her husband Jacob of Franklin; a son, David J. Edwards and his wife Ashley of Oil City, and their children: Logan, Seth, and Rylee. Also surviving are many other friends and family, including the VanWormer clan; and his special niece, Tabatha Crose.

In accordance with Duke’s wishes, there will be no visitation or public service held. Duke will be laid to rest beside his wife, Debra, in Grove Hill Cemetery in Oil City. The family requests that their privacy be respected during this difficult time.

Funeral arrangements are being completed by Hile-Best Funeral Home in Seneca, Cranberry Township. To express online condolences to Duke’s family, visit www.hilebest.com.
