Six Escape Injury After Car, Tractor Trailer Collide on Interstate 80

RICHLAND TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Three adults and three children escaped injury Monday after a passenger car and a tractor trailer collided on Interstate 80 in the Emlenton area.

Clarion-based State Police said the accident happened around 3:51 p.m. when Elizabeth M. Detjen, 23, of Hawthorn, was attempted to merge into the left lane from the right lane on Interstate 80 West near mile marker 49.

Police said Detjen’s 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt subsequently collided with a 2016 Freightliner Cascadia operated by Allen Ferguson, 60, of Lansdowne, Pa.

Both drivers and four passengers in Detjen’s vehicle — Jeffrey S. Clyde, 43, of Hawthorn, a 7-year-old male, a 12-year-old male, and a 14-year-old male — escaped injury.

Detjen was cited for a lane violation.
